Each year Rome’s most important music venue, he Auditorium, hosts a star.studded concert festival called July sounds Good, with a parade of big-name performers gracing the stage dailu throughout the month. Concerts take place in the majestic outdoor auditorium at the centre of Parco della Musica, composed of three  whale-shaped concerts buildings and a central amphiteathre  designed by famed Italian architect Renzo Piano.

Opera at Caracalla

Italy, the land of opera. Since the 1500s, Italian composers have combined the human voice with their armonic knowledge to create some of the most fabulous musical gift mankind could possibly hope for. To make things even more magical, Rome’s opera theatre moves outdoors every summer, with shows under the stars in the ancient settings of the Terme di caracalla. Take in th epower of Verdi’s Aida or Rigoletto, or experience the drama of Romeo and Juliet in the ballet by Prokoviev.

Rome is one of the greenest cities in Europe, with several large beautiful parks and villas within or near city limits. Enjoy some music in the great wide open with the following festivals

VILLA ADRIANA- The international Festival of Villa Adrinana takes place in the park surrounding Hadrian’s villas in Tivoli and is a chance to also visit the splendorous and Archelogical area. Performances include Peter and the wolf, an acrobatic theatre-circus performance, a jazz concert and a dance show.

VILLA CELIMONTANA- Each summer since 1994, the famed jazz club Alexanderplatz has moved outdoors to Villa Celimontana near Colosseum. Enjoy performances by th best Italian jazz musicians and some important international names. Via della Navicella Tel 0658335781

VILLA ADA – World music in the name of the game at Villa Ada. Here you can get down to the beat with artists from every major continent, and a wide range of genres including reggae, rap and jazz.

A total of 24 countries were drawn across six pools for the first round of the 17th edition of the FIVB Men’s World Championships, which will be held across 10 Italian cities (Milan, Ancona, Catania, Florence, Modena, Reggio Calabria, Turin, Trieste and Verona) from September 24 until the Finals  in Rome on October 10, 2010
